Teacher Charles's picture

Students will give a speech on the topic of "Why I am in a bilingual program".

This speech will have the following conditions:

  • Individual work (Each student will do their own work and present on their own).
  • Speech can be broad or narrow (with regards to the topic) but must be between 2 - 3 minutes in length.
  • There will be no use of slides, presentations, images, etc... students will use their own notes and nothing else.
  • Speech will be presented on Friday.
  • I must recieve copies of your speeches, or speech notes, before Friday. You can e-mail them to me, photo copy them for me, or pass them to me using a thumb drive.

Here are some questions to think about to get you started*:

- Are bilingual programs important? Why?
- If there are benefits, do they apply to you?
- Was it your choice? Whose was it? Why do you/they think it's good for you?
- Will you use English in the future? Are you sure?
- Are the opportunites that open up by learning English, worth it?
- Do you really learn to excel in English in a bilingual program?
etc...

*You don't have to answer these questions, but they may help you to start.
